Hiroshima
The gate on the water, and the city that chose peace

¥100,000
per day · guide only · car optional at ¥300,000

Two UNESCO sites, forty minutes apart, and one of the few days in Japan that changes how people think. Miyajima’s torii standing in the sea at high tide; the Peace Park in the afternoon, walked slowly, with a guide who will give you the room to be quiet.

A day in Hiroshima

A starting point, not a script. Every stop can be swapped, dropped or lingered over on the day.

08:00

Pickup

From your Hiroshima hotel or the station.

08:40

Ferry to Miyajima

Ten minutes across the bay to an island where the deer walk the shoreline.

09:15

Itsukushima Shrine

Built on stilts over the sea so commoners would not tread the sacred island. At high tide it floats.

10:45

Mount Misen or Daisho-in

A ropeway to the summit and the Inland Sea below — or a mountainside temple of 500 stone rakan, each face different.

12:30

Lunch

Grilled oysters and anago-meshi on the island, or Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki back in the city.

14:30

Peace Memorial Park

The A-Bomb Dome, the cenotaph, the children’s monument. We walk it slowly.

15:30

The museum

Difficult and necessary. Your guide will wait outside if you would rather be alone with it.

17:00

Shukkei-en garden

A scaled-down landscape rebuilt after 1945 — the ginkgo that survived is still standing.

18:00

Drop-off

Hotel, station, or Hiroshima Airport.

Do you need the car here?

No — guide only is enough

Ferry, tram and a short walk cover Miyajima and the Peace Park properly. Guide-only is the sensible choice here; the car is worth it only if you are continuing to Onomichi or Iwakuni.

Getting there

Your guide travels by shinkansen — rail fare is included. Ferry, tram and a little walking cover the day; an Alphard and driver can meet you instead at the BUSHIDO Private rate.

When to come

Year-round. Check the tide table — we plan the day around high tide at Itsukushima.

The rate

¥100,000 guide only — trains, walking and taxis at cost.
¥300,000 with the Alphard and driver, door to door — about ¥50,000 each with 6 of you.
¥500,000 guided by Master Ken himself, six days a month.

Three ways to travel with us

Every one of them is one private group per day, priced for the group rather than per head.
The only question is whether you need the car — and on some days you genuinely do not.
We will tell you which.
